Welcome to SeniorsUnited. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, services, messaging tools, and any affiliated platforms or technologies (collectively, the “Platform”). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Eligibility and Account Responsibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform. By registering, you affirm that the information you provide is accurate and truthful. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.
2. Use of the Platform
You agree to use the Platform solely for lawful purposes, including:
- Contacting elected representatives as a constituent or concerned citizen
- Participating in civic actions, petitions, and surveys hosted by SeniorsUnited
- Sharing content or feedback that aligns with our mission of respectful democratic participation
You may not:
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation
- Send spam, mass messages, or automated submissions
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or tamper with Platform security
- Use the Platform to harass, abuse, threaten, or defame any individual or group
- Coordinate with others to flood the system, impersonate public sentiment, or manipulate campaign metrics
3. User Content, Messaging, and Moderation
Message content is fully controlled by the user. While we may offer suggested language, all final messages are authored and submitted by users themselves. SeniorsUnited does not edit message content but reserves the right to block or flag submissions that violate these Terms.
To safeguard the integrity of civic communication, we use automated tools — including artificial intelligence (AI) moderation — to scan messages at the time of submission for profanity, hate speech, threats, impersonation, or coordinated misuse.
Messages flagged for serious violations may be returned to the user for revision or blocked entirely. Patterns consistent with organizational manipulation may result in account suspension or review.
We do not use AI moderation to suppress political opinion, disagreement, or lawful speech.
4. Self-Verification and Voter Integrity
To ensure integrity and prevent abuse, we may verify address data using third-party services. Users may be required to confirm their district and pass a CAPTCHA before submitting messages to Congress.
False submissions or unauthorized use of another person’s information is strictly prohibited and may result in account suspension or legal referral.
5. Data Practices and Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details about what information we collect, how it is used, and how it is protected.
We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your data, including encryption, and do not sell your information to advertisers or data brokers.
6. Termination of Use
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in behavior that threatens the integrity of our Platform or mission.
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from your profile settings — no request is needed. SeniorsUnited is committed to user control, transparency, and data self-management.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided “as is.” SeniorsUnited makes no guarantees regarding message delivery success, system uptime, or specific outcomes from civic participation. Use of the Platform is at your own risk.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, SeniorsUnited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use of the Platform.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If material changes are made, we will notify users by email or by posting a notice on the website.
